I have lived in  Downeast Maine  all my life origionally from gouldsboro .I have been around boats all my life .My father used to do some lobster fishing by hand clambing and digging worms until his brother wanted him to finish off a new 37` repco hull for lobster fishing for him and from there he finished many others i started working with him when i turned 15 years old. learning the basics of  fiberglass  from him i then went to John M Williams Boat Company to build boats and was a whole new world of boat building for me as we built more pleasure boats then anything and lots of repair jobs, refits ,restructuring, and service work.I started there in 1985 laminating hulls & molded tops ,some hulls were solid fiberglass some were cored and air bagged.I also built engine beds, installed engines, shafts, rudders and evolution drive units .then came along  Awlgrip  ,being fascinated with its flow and shine properties i had to try it . Awlgrip is a marine yacht finish that withstands the harshest of elements .It can be used on hulls ,tops, masts ,booms, boat interiors, ect...in a variety of colors. With a multitude of projects that most people wouldn`t believe could be accomplished i did at john williams and have learned all aspects of boat building from the rough fiberglass to the fine finish. so in 2002 i decided to give it a try on my own and Charger`s Automotive and Marine was born. it took a few years to finacially get the boat shop built  but we did we worked on any thing we could to keep the business going including vehicles doing mechanic work autobody , painting and restorations. but our passion is boats ,every boat is different and we love to work on boats.
